A gift to the Newport Beach Public Library Foundation provides valuable Library services and resources to anyone who walks through the Library doors or visits online. It’s about free access to quality digital and analog information and services like the Media Lab, Recording Studio, and Conference/Study Rooms. The NBPLF also provides funds for new technology, furniture, and capital improvements and an array of excellent community programs like The Witte Lectures, Library Live, Medicine in Our Backyard, Financial Literacy Workshops, a monthly Book Discussion Group, and numerous educational programs. GIVING OPTIONS
The Newport Beach Public Library Foundation accepts contributions in a variety of forms including cash, securities, real estate, cryptocurrency, personal property, life insurance, bequests, trusts or annuities. Please consult with your attorney or tax advisor first to find out the most beneficial means of contributing to your community through the Library Foundation. DONOR ADVISED FUNDS
Donor Advised Funds are the fastest-growing giving method and tax-efficient way to manage charitable donations. Donor Advised Funds allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. There are specific IRS regulations regarding benefits that you can receive as the individual that advised or recommended that a contribution be made from your Donor Advised Fund or Family Foundation. The Newport Beach Public Library Foundation cannot provide any benefit other than “incidental benefits.”
If you are a client of Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and BNY Mellon you can easily make a designation through the DAF Direct window on this page.

Digital or Cryptocurrency
The Newport Beach Public Library Foundation is accepting contributions using digital or cryptocurrency through the nonprofit organization every.org. Every.org accepts the digital currency, issues the necessary IRS documentation to the donor, and then converts the currency to US dollars and transmits to the Foundation. The donor receives a tax deduction for the full price of the currency at the time of the gift through every.org. Just as with a Donor Advised Fund, you will receive recognition and incidental benefits for the full amount of the contribution. STOCK TRANSFERS
The Foundation accepts shares of stock which are sold upon receipt and directed to the Annual Fund, Endowment Fund, or other designated program in accordance with the donor’s wishes.

RETIREMENT PLAN CONTRIBUTIONS/IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER
A special opportunity for those 70½ years old and older. You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as the Library Foundation without having to pay income taxes on the money. Gifts of any value of $100,000 or less are eligible for this benefit and you can feel good knowing that you are making a difference at the Library Foundation. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.
GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE
The Newport Beach Public Library Foundation has partnered with Realty Gift Fund to provide the strategic giving option of gifts of real estate. Realty Gift Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes the charitable giving of real estate by accepting real estate gifts, remediating assets for market, converting them to cash and using the net proceeds to make grants to non-profit organizations for current and planned gifts. You can also use a gift of real estate to fund a Donor Advised Fund or family foundation.
With an immediate gift of real estate owned for more than one year, you will enjoy a charitable income tax deduction equal to the property’s full fair market value. You also avoid paying capital gains taxes on the sale of the property. For more information, click on the link below.

Annual Naming Opportunity at the Central Library
The Library Foundation annually recognizes donors who join the Foundation or make a gift at the $2,500 level or above during a calendar year. The marble donor wall is outside the Library’s front doors along the breezeway leading to the Bamboo Courtyard adjacent to Avocado Ave. Donor wall participants are recognized at an annual reception in Fall as a way to say THANK YOU for making the library accessible to all.

Naming an area at the Central Library is a rare and special opportunity to have recognition in perpetuity in a space designed by one of the world’s premier architectural firms: Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. The funds we have received to date have enabled us to finance larger-scale projects for the library including the total renovation of the Popular Library in 2015.
